Our Mission

Founder
Lune Soleil Press MoonLune Soleil Press is the dream and the natural outcome of a life inspired by books. Founder Zoe Nicholson has been enchanted by books and authors for near 70 years. The single thread of her life has always been books, starting with reading The Lives of the Saints, opening and operating a bookstore and finally writing five of her own. The creation of Lune Soleil Press is just the next step on her path.

Why Self Publish?

Mary Daly with ax. Book, "Gyn/Ecology: The Metaethics of Radical Feminism"1978, The day Mary Daly’s book, Gyn-Ecology : The Metaethics of Radical Feminism, arrived in the bookstore, I told my partner, I was going upstairs to read it. I read it at least 5 times and inside the front cover I wrote, Is there another book on true feminism? No, not yet. I took my tattered book to a Daly lecture at Claremont and got in line for her signature.  I thought I would blackout when she opened it and read what I had written. She stepped away from the podium, stood in front of me and said, “Leave your name and number with me.”

Mary became my mentor and invited me to come to Boston College to study with her. Though I could not move, we stayed close in touch.  She had a tight group of radical lesbian feminist students & friends. I got a call about Mary’s health and a request, if I had one of her books which had gone out of print. Mary had given all of hers away and wanted one. Her publisher had decided to not reprint it and held the copyright.

I learned a hard lesson that day. I made many inquiries. Lots of authors do not have their own copyrights and, therefore, the right to reprint or change the price. It was not unusual, like record labels holding a catalog.  I wanted to own all my work, my own copyrights.  I learned how of to register ISBN Numbers and be listed with the Library of Congress. Thus began, Lune Soleil Press.  I can decide how to market and distribute.  It was a really good decision.

The Hungry Heart now & the rest in 2026.

Over this month, I got a strong calling to do something big,  something that creates its own trajectory and lasts. You are a part of it too.

2020 January 27 is the day the 38th state ratified the ERA.

2022, January 27, it became law.

2025 January 27, I am sending my ERA diary; The Hungry Heart ~ A Woman’s Fast for Justice, into the world for free.

I am blessed with the sponsorship of Wild West Women, Inc.  You can share it, read it on your devices, and get in this jet stream of hope.

As Miss Paul showed me, the ERA survived WWII.  From her HQ in Geneva, 1938, the World Woman’s Party carried on. Miss Paul lived to 92 and never gave up.
